Sacred Heart Florissant Evangelization Effort

True holiness does not mean a flight from the world;  rather, it lies in the effort to incarnate the Gospel in everyday life, in the family, at school and at work, and in social and political involvement.

Saint John Paul the Great

Our Mission: To create missionary disciples who 1) strive for lay personal holiness so as to 2) go out and share Jesus in a very real, accessible way.

What It Looks Like: With a strong emphasis on one-on-one relationships and walking with others (discipleship), we learn how to live the mission at monthly formations where we experience authentic, Catholic community. Also, each disciple is paired with another anchor disciple to help better live the mission. Monthly men and women socials, or whatever groups we are already in, are platforms to practice what we’ve learned and leave the comfort of the greenhouse. Conversion often happens in relationships, not at large events.

What This Parish Movement Is and Is Not:

Is: An intergenerational, grassroots, laity-led effort to help ourselves and parish be on fire for Christ and His Church. This is a shift in mindset of how we see what we’re doing already, that our baptismal call to evangelize is actually realistic and essential as Christians. It’s a parish culture renewal.

Not: Another volunteer thing, a young adult ministry, or formal ministry at all.

Disciple Commitment: We should always be attentive first to family needs and demands of our vocation. Beyond this, disciples should attend monthly formation, commit to discipling two individuals, and invest in some other area they already are in. Ex/ Garage, Ladies’ Night, Pray and Play, Bunko, St. VdP, Ladies’ Guild, Bible Study, C3A Sports, work socials, youth group, Florissant boards, etc. Being on mission begins precisely where we are and should be done in conjunction with life activities. In addition, help with the infrequent pastor requests, like our annual Coffee and Donut Sunday.
